The Sexiest Men of Scifi

Michelle Lauren wrote this terribly early in the morning:

Today I’m counting down the Hottest Men in Scifi Romance. I’m also giving away some PRIZES!

Before I give my picks, I asked several authors to tell me who they thought was the hunkiest man in science fiction romance. Here’s what they said:

Cora Zane: Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica)

Why he’s hot: “He played the (Leoben) #2 cylon model during the series. His character was a bit crazy, but had amazing depth. After he is discovered to be a cylon (in a scene I believe may have been cut from TV, so is only available on the DVD set) he is interrogated by Starbuck and ends up telling her all he really wants is to be loved by someone. *swoon*

For me, that moment of vulnerability is probably the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen on TV. You could have waylaid me with a feather. Those little glimpses of vulnerability are fuel for sexiness. It’s something we can all remember when writing our heroes – especially the bad boys.”

Rae Lori: Russell Li (A Feast of Shadows; Futuristic/Cyberpunk Romance)

Why he’s hot: “I pick him because he’s a mixture of what I love in my men, sensitive, protective, good head on his shoulders and he’s hot to boot.  Even when his lady is pushing him away, he still fights to do what’s right and get her back, even if it means taking on the world with both hands tied behind his back.”

Minx Malone: Nathan Fillion (Firefly)

Why he’s hot: “I love the dark hair with the blue eyes and he’s built brawny like a lumberjack. Yummy.  He’s also a great actor with a subtle wit who gives an understated sarcastic vibe to his characters. He seems to play the tall, dark and silent type really well.”

Now for my picks.

My list is so long that I’ve actually broken this into two posts. Check out my group blog The Naughty Girls Next Door on 9/24 for Part II of The Hottest Men in Scifi.

# 1 Amir Varad (“In Ice” in Carnal Desires by Crystal Jordan; Futuristic shifter series)

Why he’s hot: I’m a sucker for a hot shifter, and Amir is definitely that. Not to mention he’s royalty. And when this weretiger sets his sights on the woman he loves, things get really hot, really fast.

#2 Alrik Torfa (Invasion Earth by Loribelle Hunt; Futuristic series)

Why he’s hot: This sexy alien general lands on a barren future Earth only to discover that the leader of the opposing army is also his mate – and the one woman feisty enough to challenge him. Alrik is a total alpha male, but he doesn’t cross the line into being overbearing. He’s intense and gorgeous and just…yum.

#3 Zeshin (Hajiri’s Pet by Michael Barnette and Auburnimp; Futuristic series)

Why he’s hot: In futuristic Japan, society is split into a class system that includes zone warriors and submissive “pets.” Zeshin is the latter. But don’t get confused! Although he’s submissive, Zeshin is also bada$$. He is an incredible warrior, even saving his future lover in the first chapter. Since this book is part of a series, I eagerly await the sequel.

#4 Noah Benson (Starstruck: Hunter by Moi; Multicultural Scifi Romance series)

Why he’s hot: I’m a sucker for bad boys, especially jaded ones. Noah has this whole fallen angel thing going for him. He’s intense, strong enough to handle a werewolf in hand-to-hand combat, and he isn’t afraid of he’s willing to do anything to protect the woman he loves.

And now for the goodies!

  1. Kayelle Allen Says:

I’m voting for the villain / hero in Hellboy II, The Golden Army. Prince Nuada Silverlance played by Luke Goss has all the trappings of both tragic hero and villain. I have an autographed photo of him in character right next to me in my workroom. He’s hot because he’s 1) yummy, 2) devoted to his cause (saving his people) 3) brilliant swordsman 4) strong yet vulnerable. Nuada needs love and respect, needs to save his people, but has been pushed to the edge of desperation and lashes out at humankind. The prince has icy eyes, long blond hair, white-white skin with blue highlights, and a scarred body that shows strength and sinewy muscle. He does everything wrong in this film, yet your heart breaks for him. A true good/bad guy. I love this character more than any other hero in film or TV, and that says a lot!

    Wolverine…there is no one sexier!

  3. Michelle Lauren Says:

@ Kayelle: Thanks for stopping by! I totally agree about Prince Nuada. He was a total hottie. I LOVE bad boys and he just had the brooding, lethal heartbreaker thing going on. And he definitely knew how to handle his sword… No pun intended. ;D

  4. Michelle Lauren Says:

@ Patsy: Hi Patsy. I’m so glad you mentioned Wolverine. I’ve mentioned before on this blog that I’m an X-Men fan, but I am in lust with Hugh Jackman & the character Wolverine. He’s just so tortured. Although his character is violent, he is also extremely honorable, fair and loyal.

  5. stacey smith Says:

  6. Michelle Lauren Says:

@ Stacey: Hi there. I’m glad to see another lover of Nathan Fillion. It’s strange, but I’d never heard of him until I watched Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and then I got hooked on Firefly.

Will Smith was very sexy in his role in Independence Day. He does a great job in scifi movies.

  7. sherry strode Says:

My favorite has to be Wolverine he is so hot Hugh Jackman brings him to life so good.

  8. Michelle Lauren Says:

@ Sherry: Looks like we have some major Wolverine fans in the house tonight! Thanks for adding your vote.

I agree, too. Hugh Jackman did a phenomenal job bringing that character to life — so much so that it didn’t bother me at that he’s more than a foot taller than the comic book version of Wolverine (who stands at like 5′3″ I believe)

  9. Michelle Lauren Says:

Okay time to pick my two winners. Congratulations to…

Sherry and Stacey! I’ll contact you via email tomorrow for your mailing address. Thanks to everyone who participated.

  10. Minx Malone Says:

OH I can’t believe I forgot about Wolverine…I just watched the Wolverine Origins movie last night and he is so hot.

  11. Paige Tyler Says:

Absolutely love Nathan Fillion’s character Mal on Firefly! I’d go for Wolverine, too! Oh, and Shepard and Ronin from Stargate Atlantis!

    *hugs*
