He took the empty mug Derek handed him. Their fingers brushed and heat headed south to pool in Max’s groin. There was a lot less room in his jeans suddenly.

Derek’s cheeks flushed and those gorgeous hazel eyes shot a quick glance down at the bulge in Max’s pants. He wasn’t embarrassed and didn’t see the point in hiding his attraction to Derek.

“Max, I…”

He covered Derek’s lips with one finger and smiled. “I’m not looking for forever, Derek. Only for one day at a time.”

Derek sucked Max’s finger into his mouth and stroked along the sides of it with his tongue.

“F*ck.” Max tugged his finger away. “Can’t talk to the men with a hard-on, Derek.”

Max’s heart jumped at the smooth sounds of Derek’s laugh.

“That would be rather uncomfortable. Should I make a lunch for us?”

Derek picked up his notebook and guitar, standing to head back inside. Max stared at Derek’s ass covered in sweatpants, imagining what he looked like naked.

“Max, lunch?” Derek reminded him with a wicked twinkle in his eyes.
