Torchwood's return

Hey...anyone know when Torchwood returns to BBCAmerica? I'm missing me some Capt. Jack Harkness....

Thought they just had the season finale a couple weeks ago, so it might be a while.

Re: Torchwood's return

No clue when they'll start doing reruns, but there won't be any new episodes for a while. The BBC hasn't officially renewed it yet, and it's still up in the air even what shape it's going to take. But keep an eye on the end of the current run of Doctor Who on Sci Fi (hinthint) and next Thursday on BBCA you can see Jack's introduction on Who as well. Best. Episode. Ever.

Re: Torchwood's return

I'm currently watching the second season of Torchwood on my laptop (don't ask where I got the copies--my supplier is a secret!) and there are some good SF/Paranormal episodes, but then there's a bit of the silly, adolescent giggling bits with Jack and Ianto.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's professional for anyone in a "police type of organization" to date a fellow co-worker. It's just not going to be conducive to good office relations. Sure, they can be "friends" but sleeping with each other all the time? Well, it's like high school and not an adult operation.

But a few of the story premises in the second season are very good science fiction and the hanky-panky bits are toned down somewhat. I particularly like what they do to fix Owen's womanizing problem!

Re: Torchwood's return

Gonna disagree with you on that one, Celine. I hated what they did with Owen second season. First season he was a complex, multi-layered bastard. I loved that about him. But he still always put himself in front of a woman in danger, and the way it broke him to watch Lizzie Lewis get murdered in Ghost Machine just said so much about the man he was under all that swagger and attitude. They eviscerated him second season until there was nothing left that they could do with him except what he did.

I did like Ianto much better second season. But yeah, his relationship with Jack really isn't the healthiest, and sure doesn't put Jack in a very good light.

Of course, I should be saying all this over on my LJ comm where we're doing a rewatch right now...

Re: Torchwood's return

I think the whole "fluid/omni sexuality" of Jack is rocking, smokin' and hottttttt.

Naked hide-and-seek with Ianto?

Some of the plots are silly, but I love the show, over all.

I just love saying Ianto's name - Yann-toe
I love the Welsh accents!
As for playing naked hide and seek, well, that was silly, but what the heck. With all the s*** that happens to them? Why not some H&S!?

I love Torchwood! Especially Jack & Ianto's relationship! The nekkid hide & seek had me rolling. Especially the "He cheats. He always cheats." *cackle*

And what's with SciFi not playing the second part of Doctor Who next Friday or the second part of Sarah Jane for that matter? They're gassing the whole planet with poison and you've gotta leave us hanging for an extra week?!

I've yet to see the first episode for this past season--the one with Spike. I'm really hoping On Demand shows it (since I don't get BBCA).

Re: Torchwood's return

I'm with Shara--why oh why would you postpone a Doctor Who episode?? Get with the program Sci Fi Channel!!

(I guess they're too busy broadcasting wrestling to bother with broadcasting Torchwood? Sigh! How is wrestling Sci Fi? Other than the superhero type costuming?)

Re: Torchwood's return

Sci Fi didn't get Torchwood, and BBCA is ticked that SF *did* get Doctor Who and SJA instead of them. The old regime at BBCA negotiated that deal and didn't think a "kid's show" would fit well in the adult market BBCA was targeted towards. Needless to say, those execs have since been replaced...

Part of the reason for the skip on Sci Fi is the fact that Doctor Who is skipping a week this week as well for the Eurovision finals. Sci Fi can't get ahead of the BBC broadcasts, so they need to delay a week as well.

Re: Torchwood's return

I'm actually glad Sci Fi got Doctor Who and the Sarah Jane Adventures--I hate the commercials, but I at least get that channel in my cable package. You have to pay the big bucks to get BBC America in these parts. Sigh!

I've watched all the Torchwoods from the latest season, and I'm now up-to-date on all things Jack and Ianto. Now I see why Ianto is so quiet in the first season. He's in awe of Jack's rugged good looks and style of dress (while keeping the cyber-girlfriend in the basement under wraps).

Just wondering what they'll do next season (if there is another season in the works).

I'm only getting SciFi HD through some snafu with the cable co. They took away regular SciFi and left me the HD channel. Yay, since I was going to be mad to miss my Ghost Hunters.

LOL!! Well, at least it's a snafu in your favor, Shara. Lucky girl!

(Hmm, wonder if the cable compay could "accidentally" give me the BBC America channel?)

I wish they'd do that for me so I can watch Wire in the Blood too.

Wire's done too, now, though, isn't it?

I wish they'd rebroadcast Jekyll. Best twisted romance EVER.

Thank heavens for DVDs (and the friends who lend them to you from time to time)!

I know, I've seen shows and movies decades after the fact that I'd never known existed... And I'm sad that what I see on the DVD is all I'll ever see of the original program. Still, it's like reading a classic novel--it's still a classic.

I'm watching Dark Shadows on DVD, because I've heard it mentioned so many times.

I think just for the season, at least as far as BBCA is concerned. Not sure about the BBC proper run.
