Re: Who Said That?

Oh... who was that guy who wrote all those upbeat, power of positive thinking books?

Norman Vincent Peale?

Dale Carnegie?

(Very good piece of rational-emotive therapy advice there actually. The only thing you can really be certain of changing is your own attitude toward a situation.)

Ich spreche ein bisschen deutsche.
my god, Mike, will your wonders never cease?
witty, kind, multi-lingual...

i went with some random song quotes that popped into my head when i wrote my bio today. you can use them for this who said game:
Mima still hits dance clubs
"I came here to dance, not to get laid"
Obsessively stuffs more plants into her cottage garden every year
"Push the little daisies and make them come up"
Thinks of sex more than the average guy
"when a girl walks in with an itty-bitty waist and a round thing in my face I get sprung"
and is crazy in love with her husband.
"let the world go on below us we are lost in time"
Her vocation is a children's librarian
"I will not take these things for granted"
and she comes down on the side of cats
"i wish i could be as carefree and wild"

Okay. The guy that said this was Hodding Carter II. His son, Hodding Carter III was the assistant secretary of state in the Jimmy Carter administration.

Nope. Nope. And Nope.
First off, it's a woman.

Hint: She gained fame in 1955 by winning The $64,000 Question game show.

I know!! Dr. Joyce Brothers said this quote.

(Do I win the $64,000 question now? Hey, since it's not the 1950's we get to adjust it for inflation... That would be more like a $640,000 question now!)

Eh? Dudn't work that way.

Veggies may or not eat veggies, like everyone else. What Veggies do is not eat meat etc.

Which gets us where...

Got it! Ergo, Humanitarians must also not eat something. Perhaps Veggies?

Not quite.
The guy that said this began his career as a street juggler and musician before finding regular employment as a comedian and comedy writer.

Steve Martin--the original "wild and crazy" guy?

Singing: "I'm picking out a thermos for you... Not an ordinary thermos for you..." (Steve Martin in The Jerk)

"King Tut... How'd he get so funky? Funky Tut! He's my favorite monkey! Born in Babylonia, moved to Arizona--King Tut!" (Steve Martin's "King Tut".)

No, but that is freaky. I was going to post the Zsa Zsa quote and at the last second decided to post this one instead. This guy played the piano, trumpet, and saxophone. He was also a writer and performed on a British radio comedy program.

How about someone from Monty Python? I'll guess Michael Palin since I've always had a thing for him ever since I first heard him yell, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquistion!!"

Nope. This guy is quoted a ton. He's an author. He was born in 1911.
He also said: "A baby is born with a need to be loved and never outgrows it."

Re: Who Said That?

I don't really know much about this guy beyond the hints I gave. He was an American, and also an editor and a publisher. Of what? Where? Heck if I know.

Since I like the Dr. Spock answer I'll give the win to Celine!!!

Me!! I'm that sucker!!

(Lisa may be one for awarding me the last quote guess... Let me try again. Hmmm, how about HR Mencken?)

I'll say the sucker quote came from P.T. Barnum. He certainly pegged us blonde types.

That other quote was from A. Whitney Brown.

This one, you've definitely got right!!!! P.T. Barnum it is.

You'd think.
This guy was born in 1799. He was an American, a politician, and was Secretary of War for the United States government for about a year, starting in 1861.

The last quote was attributed to:
Simon Cameron (1799-1889) American financier and politician.
