Snarky Amazon Review--keep it or tell them to pull it?

Well, it's finally happened to yours truly... There's a nasty review on Help! I'm Falling for the Vampire Next Door at Amazon where the print version is selling well. I rated the review as "not helpful" and I wish Amazon would just pull it as I think the reviewer is just one of those snarky types who wants to post negative remarks without impunity.

What do you think? Should the snarky review stand--sort of "reverse publicity" for the book--or should it be pulled since I don't feel it's particularly fair, accurate or just plain civil?

I had one of those for Green Fire -- of course I had a lot of great ones for Green Fire. I let the great reviews speak for themselves and ignored the snarky one. JMHO.

oh, celine, that's not snark, that's pitbull bitch. someone's out to get you, and to put it up on amazon is just stone cold mean.

unfortunately, it doesn't have the "this sux if u like it u suck too" inane quality that would get amazon to yank it. get one of your readers to put up something glowing for you!

Re: Snarky Amazon Review--keep it or tell them to pull it?

My advice is:

1. Don't do anything about the snarky review;
2. As Mima said, get someone(s) to put up a favorable review, in the 3-5 rating range--4 is prob the best rating to get.

Amazon reviews are known to be significantly manipulated by some people, so seasoned readers learn to ignore the 1 and 5 ratings and read the 2-4 comments. Having some neg reviews adds credibility long-term.

You could end up getting unwanted hassle if you go about pulling reviews, it's probably not worth it.

Yeah, I thought so, too. If you nag Amazon, they tend to ignore in the long run when you really need their help.

I've asked people to post reviews--but I ended up posting for a friend anyway and that seems to have got me in trouble. So.... anybody out there want to post a nice review of Vampire Next Door for me to counteract the snarky/icky one?
